Fall Colors in Oak Glen

A Hidden Fall Gem in Southern California

If you live in Southern California, you know our “fall color” often leans…brown. You may have seen the brilliant reds and golds of the East Coast and wished you could experience something similar without boarding a plane.
Good news: Oak Glen delivers a surprisingly beautiful fall display – right here at home.

When to Visit for Peak Fall Color

Peak fall colors in Oak Glen typically appear from the last weeks of November into early December.
This “in-between” season is also one of the quieter times to visit. Apple season has come to an end, the crowds thin out, and the Glen begins its peaceful transition into winter. The result: calm trails, crisp air, and unobstructed views of changing leaves.

The Best Way to Experience Oak Glen in Fall

This is truly the best time of year to take a walk, enjoy a picnic, and soak up nature at a slower pace. Below are some of the most picturesque spots to enjoy Oak Glen’s vibrant fall foliage.

Parrish Ranch

Parrish Ranch is surrounded by a beautiful variety of trees that create a warm autumn palette.

  • Enjoy lunch in the idyllic picnic area, which is often visited by roaming deer.

  • Stop by the farm store or antique shop.

  • Grab a delicious meal at Haus Bistro.

Whatever you do, don’t skip the chance to step outside and enjoy the scenery – it’s the highlight of the visit.

Los Rios Rancho & The Wildlands Conservancy

This is arguably the most breathtaking location in Oak Glen for fall color.
At the Wildlands Conservancy (located within Los Rios), you’ll find:

  • Picnic tables on the main lawn,

  • Quiet spots in the lower meadow,

  • A magical pine grove along the nature trail.

Enter through the iconic archway to access the main trail, which leads to:

  • The children’s forest

  • A butterfly garden

  • A pond with a wooden deck

  • Towering pines and more

For a quieter experience, head to the lower trail at the south end of the parking lot. This less-traveled path offers peaceful views and rich fall color away from the main foot traffic.

Grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate at Wilshire’s Apple Shed (just one stop away from Los Rios Rancho) for the ultimate sip & stroll fall day. Enjoy!
